About Us
American Kombat Alliance (AKA) is a top tier regional combat sports promotion known for developing elite talent and preparing fighters for the highest levels of competition. Founded in May 2017 by President and CEO Amber Bishop, AKA has earned a reputation as a proving ground where athletes are tested against high level opposition and shaped into professionals ready to advance from the AKA cage to the global stages of combat sports, including organizations such as the UFC and other premier promotions.
The promotion has seen numerous fighters rise from AKA events to international recognition, with notable competitors including Greg Hardy and Devin Haney. With an athlete first approach, high quality event production, and a commitment to discipline, growth, and excellence, AKA provides a platform across MMA, boxing, kickboxing, grappling, as well as bare knuckle and bare knuckle MMA, allowing competitors to sharpen their skills, gain experience, and build meaningful careers on the global stages of combat sports.
Amber Bishop
Founder and Owner
The fight game has always been in my blood. I grew up traveling the country watching world class fighters trained by my father, and from an early age I dreamed of one day “putting on a show.” It was a dream I shared with my husband, John, on the very first day we met.
In an industry traditionally dominated by men, I believed that a different approach could truly make a difference, not only for promotions, but for fighters and fans as well. That belief became reality in May of 2017 when American Kombat Alliance was founded. Just two months later, AKA 1 came to life, marking the beginning of a promotion built on passion, respect, and opportunity.
Although AKA operates with a small, dedicated crew, every team member shares the same vision. We love this sport, and we deeply respect the fighters and coaches who commit their lives to it. Many people do not see the obstacles fighters must overcome, including financial strain, injuries, and the mental and physical discipline required to train every single day, often multiple times a day.
Watching fighters advance from the AKA cage to the UFC brings me immense joy. Helping athletes pursue and achieve their dreams is at the very core of AKA’s mission.
As we continue to grow, we are excited to expand American Kombat Alliance into new regions across the country. I remain confident that our unique approach will continue to elevate the sport, entertain fans, and help make dreams a reality.
I am proud to be the only female promoter in the world to produce MMA, boxing, kickboxing, and bare knuckle events. It is an achievement we stand behind proudly and one that reflects the heart, grit, and vision of American Kombat Alliance.
